| DISCLAIMER: for yall jordan lovers out there who think comparing him to anyone is blasphemy, please read my points n recognize. AND IT'S EXTREMELY LONG WITH NO PICTURES. (BUT IF YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A TRUE BASKETBALL FAN, PLEASE READ AND SEE WHERE YOU STAND ON THIS ISSUE) first of all, let me juss say i am NOT saying KOBE HAD A BETTER CAREER THAN JORDAN. if the mamba keeps this up for another 8 years, then we could start talking, but im not comparing their careers. IM COMPARING THEM IN THEIR PRIME. for kob, its now. for MJ, it was 92. MJ was still the man in the 2nd three-peat, but he wasnt nearly as athletic as he was during the 1st three-peat. so... lets go down the list... OFFENSE: both kob n MJ are unstoppable. Kob' has MJ's fadeaway and can score from the midrange and in the paint. they can drive n finish wid authority or adjust the shot in midair or take the hit and still finish or at least get to the line. they both shoot pretty well from the charity stripe. when they catch fire, its over. but Kobe has legit 3 while MJ could only hit 3s when he was on. Edge: Kobe (the dude on the Fox Sports for Laker games said it himself, and he PLAYED against jordan, david robinson, and shaq, that Kob' is the best offensive player he's ever seen. nuff said.) CLUTCHNESS: a lot of ppl say Kobe aint got this on MJ in this department, but if you've been watching the lakers and kobe in the last 5 years, you would realize how stupid you sound when u say that. kobe makes game winners/clutch shots about as often as shaq misses free throws. you cant even make a youtube highlight of kobe game winners cuz it'd be too long. and MJ, he was mr clutch, so i'd say they are even here. Edge: Even DEFENSE: they both play lock down Ds, but i'd still give a slight edge to Kob because of the players he has to guard. i'd say guarding bron, tmac, melo, vince... etc would be "slightly" more difficult than guarding jeff hornacek and dan majerle. (sorry, had to pick white players, lol) plus, it was scottie takin the other team's best perimeter players, and there's no doubt that bron and tmac are about 74 times more athletic than hornacek and majerle. (i think if you compared their verticals and 40 yard sprints, that would be about right) Edge: Kobe LEADERSHIP: ok, MJ was a LEADER, but he wasnt exactly the nicest teammate out there. im sure u guys all read the espn article about how MJ punched out at steve kerr (who was a key player on the team) and he chewed out his teammates all the time. everyone thinks kobe is a bitch and all, but if MJ was on the team wid kwame and lamar n smush? phew, i dont even wanna imagine. he would've socked the shit out of em by now. and do u think MJ could have co-existed wid shaq? i dunno about that. everyone is hating on kobe for kickin shaq out, but i'd think thats exactly what MJ would've done too. players like shaq, kobe and MJ juss cant co-exist. in the wise words of the DIESEL himself, they all have the TWISM mentality, THE WORLD IS MINE. MJ was lucky that scottie was not a natural batman. also, Kobe is actually trying to be a team player these days, actually hi-5-ing and chest bumpin wid his shitty teammates like rony and brian cook, and i think his teammates now respect him. but i have to admit that kobe doesnt have that DOMINATING personality that makes teammates shut the fuck up even when hes a bitch. since MJ got away wid being a mean teammate cuz he had the absolute authority, i gotta say MJ had better/stronger leadership. i guess he was SO good that teammates didnt dare speak up. maybe Kobe will get to that level some day but hes not there yet. Edge: MJ RINGS: this is where the haters go crazy. yea, jordan has 6, kobe has 3, but for some reason, kobes rings dont mean shit cuz he had shaq and jordans rings have the value of like 60 rings cuz he had at least 3 all stars on his team every season. YES, it was shaq's team when the lakers won, but u think shaq would've won widout kobe and his clutch shots thruout the playoffs? i dont think so. do you think jordan would've won 6 rings widout scottie, ho grant, bj, rodman and kukoc? i dont think so. keep in mind jordan didnt win SHIT till he was like 29-30, when he finally got his supporting cast. kobes not even 30 yet. give him some time before you knock on him for not winning widout shaq. and a lot of ignorant ppl say OH THE BULLS SUCKED BALLS WHEN MJ RETIRED. u kno wut, if u dont know ur shit, shut the fuck up. in 92-93 season, MJ's last season before his first retirement, the bulls won 57 games. the next year widout MJ, the bulls won FIFTY FIVE games. yea, thats right, its not a typo. its a double nickel. and they lost to the knicks team that went on to the finals in 2nd round. im not saying Jordan only accounted for 2 wins, but the point is, the bulls were a solid team wid or widout jordan. also, the next season when MJ came back towards the end of the season, please remember that it was MJ who got PICKED LIKE A BOOGER by nick anderson and the bulls went on to lose to shaq and penny's Magic. if you take out kobe from the lakers right now, lakers would be so bad that david stern would give em both the #1 and 2 picks so they can take oden and durant. for gods sake, even BJ was an all star for one year. rodman, scottie, ho grant were all stars. on the current lakers, no one is even ON the all star ballot other than kob and lamar odom. that shows how shitty the team is. and dont even give me that bs about how MJ made them better so they became all stars. wid the exception of BJ, maybe, the other players were all all stars in their own right. and the bulls' 4th best player during the 2nd three-peat, toni kukoc, was a white version of lamar odom, lakers' 2nd best player. tall, multi-talented player who played no D, showed no heart and never played 82 games a season. and please please dont make urself even stupider than you already do by saying scottie sucked. yes, scottie WAS a Robin, but he was probably the best robin there ever was. u think basketball writers didnt kno he was a robin so they voted him as one of the 50 greatest players of all time? he took on the other team's best perimeter day in n day out and still dropped 20 8 5 and made the all nba defensive team every year. to quote my main man reggie, "scottie pippen is the one player in the L who can dominate the game without touching the ball" (or something along that line) give respect where its due. PLUS, he sacrificed a lot for Jordan. he could've easily left and commanded a max contract elsewhere, but he had to make less than half of what he could've made elsewhere wid Jordan make 32 million or some shit during his last couple of years, which was like 60% of the salary cap. some ppl say oh, Kobe makes too much money so they cant sign other players blah blah. PLEASE. it wasnt kobe who signed and overpaid radmanovic or lamar odom. he makes the max amount he can make, which is like wut, 15 mil, which like 25% of the cap. if the lakers didnt have the salary cap killin garbage players, lakers could easily add another all star to their roster and decent 3rd player. so my point is, DONT HATE ON KOBE JUSS CUZ HE HASNT WON A RING. im not even saying kobe is better than MJ for sure, but at least they are comparable, and if Kobe had MJ's supporting cast, kobe would have 3 more rings easy. say Kobe had shawn marion, somewut comparable to scottie cuz they both play good D and are good second options wid similar averages, and ben wallace, even the shitty old ben wallace of THIS season, somewut like rodman, kobe would win the whole thing, no doubt. AND IM NOT SAYING JORDAN SUCKED OR ANYTHING. THAT WOULD INDEED BE BLASPHEMOUS. JORDAN WAS THE MAN AND NO ONE CAN QUESTION THAT. AND KOBE WILL NEVER HAVE THE IMPACT THAT JORDAN HAD ON THE SPORT OF BASKETBALL OR THE WORLD OVERALL. BUT KOBE MIGHT BE A BETTER "PLAYER" THAN HIM. so... until you see kobe get his supporting cast and STILL cant win it all, stop drinkin the haterade and be a WITNESS to the black mamba. and dont jump on the bandwagon and suck kobe's ---- when he does. im out like shaun livingston's knee cap. peace. |
